Dialogic® HMP Interface Boards (DNI Boards)

DNI HMP DM3 Interface Boards

Digital Network Interface boards in full size PCI Express and PCI form factors for T1/E1 environments; PowerMedia HMP delivers video, voice and IP functionality

Dialogic® HMP Interface Boards (DNI Boards) enable all the flexibility of host-based media resources (scalable and licensed in single-unit increments) to mate with the network interface, providing developers and system integrators with a new level of configuration flexibility and cost efficiency. This is a departure from traditional media span products that require onboard digital signal processors (DSPs) to provide media and audio transcoding resources, which creates fixed costs and often fixed or limited configurations of media to complement the network interface density.

Features and Benefits
Digital Network Interface (DNI) to Dialogic® Host Media Processing Software Release 4.1 for Linux3.1 for Linux and 3.0 for Windows resources Host-based voice, speech, conference, fax, and IP transcoding are accessible from the PSTN interface and can be configured in a wide range of densities, scalable in individual port increments
One, two, four and eight digital network interfaces Four different densities support a cost-effective range of solution sets
Software-selectable trunks to configure the board to be either T-1 or E-1
Reduces the total cost of ownership by increasing flexibility, reducing inventory, and simplifying the purchasing process and test effort
Selection of PSTN protocols
Support for a wide range of PSTN protocols including ISDN and CAS signaling
Provides the ability to mix select protocols on each span
Maximizes slot efficiency and reduces total cost of ownership in environments where there are multiple protocols (e.g., call centers)

Application Notes

Case Study

Data Sheet

  • The Dialogic® HMP Interface Boards are the first generation of PSTN boards to provide a native interface to Dialogic® Host Media Processing software. As such, they complete the ingredient set needed to build efficient VoIP gateway functionality into HMP telephony applications. They also break the traditional DSP-based media span paradigm by providing a digital network interface ready to be used with virtually any configuration of host based media resources to complement the base gateway capability.

Technology Brief

  • The DiaStarTM Server (DSS) acts as a multi-function peripheral that can be implemented as a media gateway, signaling gateway, or media server. DSS operates in support of an Asterisk® (or other open source) implementation via the open-source Woomera protocol.

White Paper

  • This paper supplies high-level and detail comparisons and a set of scenarios to help you decide whether an appliance gateway, gateway subsystem, or HMP interface boards are the appropriate option for an environment and for a particular set of development resources and deployment needs.
  • To win in today’s volatile wireless services market, service providers need to design, develop, and deploy new enhanced video services and be prepared to ramp them quickly when they become popular. The OmniVox3D® Application Server from APEX Voice Communications represents a unique and successful approach to this business challenge, seamlessly combining a powerful, open application server with a flexible application creation environment and a robust management interface. OmniVox3D benefits by using Dialogic® Host Media Processing Software to deliver media processing on standard servers rather than specialized hardware.
  • In today's transitional communications market, service providers need to be ready to deploy solutions that work equally well in both IP and TDM networks and that are easy to transition from TDM to IP. The multi-service OmniVox3D® Voice and Video Application Server from APEX Voice Communications has successfully met these business challenges using Dialogic® products.
  • A rising demand for mobile video services is creating major new opportunities for both network operators and application developers worldwide.
  • This white paper presents a brief overview of network monitoring. It also discusses different network monitoring types and technologies: TDM (T1/E1, BRI, and analog), SS7 (monitoring within the service provider network), and session monitoring (IP and web).
