Dialogic® SIGTRAN/SS7 Protocols

SS7 and SIGTRAN Protocol Stacks
for Versatile Service Creation

Dialogic® DSI SS7 and SIGTRAN Protocol Stacks are an integral part of the DSI run-time environment that coordinates the execution of signaling operations between the application host, the SS7 interface boards, and remote signaling servers.  This versatile architecture allows scaling configurations as service volume grows without impact to application programs.

Product Highlights
APIs address complete message content to enable unrestricted service creation
Common API for SS7 and SIGTRAN protocols to aid migration of services from TDM to IP carrier networks, e.g. MTP3 to SUA
Support for industry standards as well as many country variations
Distributed execution of protocol layers to facilitate scaling and performance tuning by adding or load-balancing processing components without application changes
Proven track record of deployment for two decades
DSI Protocol Stacks are supported for several Solaris, Linux, and Windows operating systems, including:
   - Solaris: Solaris 9, Solaris 10 (64 and 32 bit)
   - Linux: Red Hat 9, RH enterprise server, MontaVista, SUSE, and others
   - Windows: Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP
DSI Components have also been used successfully with the following operating systems:
   - HP-UX, HP-UX 64 bit, SCO Unix, DEC Unix, Compaq Sequent
   - Embedded operating systems

Application Notes

Brochure

  • Dialogic has field-proven products and solutions to enable customers to extract the most from current networks while also supporting the delivery of new revenue-generating services. From switching to transport to service creation, Dialogic supplies technology to create, manage, control, and optimize voice, video, and data sessions simultaneously.
  • Service Providers are not only being asked to deliver greater bandwidth to mobile devices, but their customers are also looking for more innovative services, including video, voice, location services, and commerce transactions.

Case Study

  • SNT Multiconnect chose ConverCom's Carrier Service Factory, which combines the benefits of conventional SS7 technology with those of open systems by using Dialogic® components and the carrier-grade integration of Envox multi-channel communications functionality in its move to a more flexible network.
  • mCarbon has deployed a sophisticated call management service for major carriers in India using its GreenRoom framework and Dialogic® products for call control, signaling, and media.
  • Pharos Avantgard SMS System V is a high-volume SMS solution that is built on Dialogic® Distributed Signaling Interface Components, including high-density signaling boards and signaling stacks

  • Etisalat Sri Lanka understands both the challenges and the importance of providing unique and sustainable roaming services to attract customers, whether inbound or outbound. Because quality and user satisfaction are top criteria, Etisalat Sri Lanka chose three of Globitel's Roaming Solutions (Feel@Home, RoamSalute, and Intelligent Traffic Steering) because they aim to provide high levels of reliability and interactivity. These services also encourage roamer loyalty with superior quality and a user-specific interface that easily promotes SMS and data usage while allowing insight into roamer behaviors and service usability tracking.

  • With its CAMEL IWF (InterWorking Function) Gateway, JSC Ingenium is allowing CELL C, the third largest mobile operator in South Africa, to integrate exciting next-generation SIP-based value-added mobile services into its conventional SS7 network. JSC Ingenium uses Dialogic® Distributed Signaling Interface (DSI) Components for signaling, switching, and transcoding in its CAMEL IWF Gateway and other solutions because DSI Components help to make these solutions easy to deploy, interoperable with TDM or IP, and very scalable.
  • Color Ring Back Tone (CRBT) has replaced the monotonous ring tones of the past with pleasing music, warm greetings, and interesting advertising. CRBT can not only reflect the unique personality of the caller but also provide a pleasurable experience for the person called, adding variety and enjoyment to a simple communications process.
  • GloBul, the second-largest wireless operator in Bulgaria, has added a new service to help its customers handle missed calls. The new service, known as Call Notify, was built on the JN Missed Call Notification (MCN) system from Bulgarian telecom solution supplier Applicata, and was based on a fully redundant SS7 configuration from Dialogic.
  • Telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs) and service providers are searching for ways to generate revenue from new services. Applications utilizing enabling short message service (SMS) can be an ideal way for these businesses to increase income without making a major infrastructure investment.

Data Sheet

White Paper

  • The expansion of mobile network services as well as subscriber growth is as vibrant as ever. Today’s challenge continues to be delivering signaling platforms with ever richer feature sets and improved performance at a lower cost. This paper focuses on an important mobile network service application, Short Message Service (SMS), and solutions from equipment vendors and building block suppliers that meet the challenges facing SMS service providers who constantly require new and improved signaling strategies because of increased competition.
  • Telecom operators have sharpened their focus on building profitable new revenue streams by offering value-added services – both to attract new subscribers and to retain the loyalty of their existing customers
