Wow, I am upgrading from PSTN T-1's w/DM boards to Voip Trunking running HMP. I got all of this running in development on server 2008, But I cannot get it to run on 2016. It has been a week, installing different versions, windows KB's, shockwave, install asking for SW 8.5, install it, HMP install never see's it and quits the installation. I bypass the autorun to skip SW install and just run the setup.exe as an admin, everything works, some success but I cannot get the DCM to get past the splash screen to setup the virtual board. I have searched the HMP blogs, only 2016 post could not get it working either, posted 2 months ago, no response. Google searches, tried everything, can't get DCM to run. I need to order 1000 of each HMP licenses and I am close to trying different technology I am so frustrated. (:
A few additonal notes. This article describes some permission issues starting the DCM www.dialogic.com/.../pm_hmp_win
I have installed the suggested KM patch to my server. Now, after the update I get a slightly different error "Failed to get the system mode Unknow Error ocurred". So from Access denied to Unknown error? fyi - I did uninstall HMP before installing the KB patch, then the patch, then HMP again.
From this point prior:
. I bypass the autorun to skip SW install and just run the setup.exe as an admin, everything works, some success but I cannot get the DCM to get past the splash screen to setup the virtual board"
Were you logged in as local admin?
If not then you needed to run dcm as "right click run as admin" to elevate the privilege back to admin status.
If there didn't work, then there is possibility that something is messed up with the Microsoft runtime libs installed prior on the system.
Of course I installed everything with local admin. Odd, I can run the license manager without "run as admin", but you were right. I right clicked the shortcut to the DCM, "run as admin" and it worked. Thanks, luckily I have only lost today with the unknown error, it took most of the week getting past the access denied error and finding the right KM. Thank you.
Ok, then I suspect something is messing with the access at the system level in that case. Running DCM when logged in as the actual local system administrator account by default should work. I seen a lot of people had similar issues where they were user created login with admin rights but not true admin account have the issue.
Slight correction. I installed with local admin, but I am running the DCM with a Network user with admin rights.
Ok, thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately changes were made in the underlying Microsoft APIs used here when support was added for win 2016/10 and thus its now required to "run as admin" always when logged in a network user with admin rights. Albeit, we are aware this is a change in behavior from earlier SUs but resides as a current limitation right now.
