My colleague Kevin shared a valuable tip with me the other day regarding Microsoft Virtual PC 2004. Virtual PC is now a free download from Microsoft, so you can download it and get started within just a few minutes. Once installed, and with the Microsoft OS of your choice installed in there, you can run Diva Server SoftIP inside the virtual PC. This is great as it allows you to take a snapshot of a working development environment that can just be loaded up on a desktop or laptop PC where needed. I've already started loading HMP in the same way, and it will be interesting to see how that goes. If your machine is overloaded with apps and add-on gadgets and (like me) you're nervous about loading one more device driver in case the system gets compromised in sone way, this is a great way to experiment with VoIP environments without getting in a mess.

The virtual PC download can be found here.
