This week I was trying to polish my C# skills a bit, a long overdue task. Meanwhile, I've been receiving a constant flow of information about other languages that are in demand. Today the IET are running a course on Python; fans of Ruby are searching for more recruits for web development with Ruby on Rails; Java never seems to go away: there's always someone that wants to interface one of our APIs to Java. Also, Java seems to be the language built into embedded devices like phones, although it's uselessly slow for any realtime pupose it seems, like VoIP. So there's still no "right" language for developers to focus on today, as for 10 or even 20 years ago there are many choices.
