I went to a very interesting session yesterday on the language Python. In particular I was impressed by the way you could use it to process web pages. For example, if you download Python (from the Python web site) and run the interpreter, you can straight away read a web page and extract the title.

The HTML parser goes under the brilliant name of Beautiful Soup.

import urllib
url = urllib.urlopen("http://www.dialogic.com/")
soup = Soup(url)

This will print out a fragment of HTML like this:

<title>Dialogic - IP, Wireless, and Video</title>


Definitely handy for quickly scraping information off a website and processing it.
