Video Gateway

Streamlining Voice and Video Service Deployment

Today’s service provider market demands smart video service solutions that can speed time to revenue and deploy in a wide variety of networks worldwide. To meet this demand, Dialogic has created the Dialogic® Vision™ 1000 Video Gateway. This network-ready product, built on commercially proven Dialogic® gateway technology, can connect your newest interactive 3G mobile voice and video services in 3G-324M environments — and in almost every other network environment in use today.

3G-324M Support with Exceptional Quality

The Dialogic® Vision™ 1000 Video Gateway enables the rapid market trial, testing, and deployment of interactive mobile video services. The Vision 1000 Video Gateway’s fully-featured 3G-324M support includes any-to-any transcoding between H.264, MPEG-4 and H.263 for connecting IP endpoints and mobile video handsets.

By incorporating Dialogic’s patent-pending bit rate controller technology, as well as MONA/WNSRP support for fast call setup, the Vision 1000 Video Gateway provides an exceptionally high-quality caller experience for converged services, such as video portals, multimedia contact centers, and multi-terminal video conferencing. See the illustration “Vision 1000 Video Gateway in a Carrier Network Environment” for a sample deployment.

Connect Anywhere — and Prevent Dropped Calls with Video Call Completion to Voice (VCCV)

The Vision 1000 Video Gateway can be centrally located in the network to deliver video services behind an in-place voice media gateway through support of RFC4040, reducing deployment costs by eliminating video gateways at the edge. To boost its cost-effectiveness further, the Vision 1000 Gateway does not require a 1:1 gateway-to-transcoding resource.

Simultaneous support for voice-only calls enables low-latency conversion from video-to-voice for VCCV services. VCCV can greatly improve customer satisfaction because it allows a video call to gracefully switch to voice if the called party does not answer on a video-enabled phone. No calls are dropped because of a video-voice mismatch, eliminating irate customers and significantly increasing call time revenue.

Enabling Video Call Completion to Voice (VCCV)

The illustration “VCCV Functionality in the Vision 1000 Video Gateway” shows how VCCV capability is enabled. The circled numbers correspond to the following actions:

1 = A video call is placed with a 3G-324M handset.

2 = The MSC determines that the video call is unable to terminate.

3 = The MSC routes the video call to the VCCV service, which is enabled by the Vision 1000 Video Gateway. The VCCV service receives the video call.

4 = The Vision 1000 Gateway initiates a separate voice call to the called party. The Vision 1000 Gateway can optionally stream service provider-defined audio or video content to the caller during the voice conversation.

5 = The voice call is answered by the called party.

6 = The voice call is bridged with the original caller.
