Increasing Mobile Backhaul Capacity Quickly
As mobile traffic increases but ARPU decreases, pressure is building to add capacity quickly without expensive and time-consuming buildouts, especially now that the demand for smartphones and rich data services is exploding.
Bandwidth optimization is an attractive option because it can increase capacity very quickly within the backhaul segment of a deployed network. Optimization can boost efficiency, reduce CAPEX and OPEX costs, and provide an important competitive advantage.
You can learn more about mobile backhaul optimization in the white paper Adding Capacity Cost-Effectively to the Mobile Network with Bandwidth Optimization.
An Optimizer That Doubles Capacity in Field Trials
The Dialogic® I-Gate® 4000 Session Bandwidth Optimizer Mobile Backhaul is built by a team with over two decades of experience in optimization techniques. In recent field trials, the I-Gate 4000 SBO MB typically doubled mobile backhaul capacity while maintaining KPI for QoE and for satisfying SLA requirements.
How Does the Optimizer Work?
Deployment is simple. One unit is installed at a cell site and another at an RNC/BSC site. The first unit gathers 2G, 3G, native IP, and PCM streams and creates a combined optimized stream, which is then transmitted across the backhaul segment and received by the second unit, which restores the original streams. See the illustration on this page for an example.
