Dialogic Support for Office Communications Server 2007 Release 2
Typical of the close alliance between Dialogic and Microsoft for UC is the current interoperability testing and firmware updates in process to support the new Office Communications Server Release 2 software.
- Dialogic® 1000 and 2000 Media Gateway Series (DMG1000, DMG2000) have successfully completed interoperability testing. Updated firmware is posted on the gateway firmware download site (select Version 6.0 Service Update 3.1). Instruction for installing new firmware on existing DMG1000 and DMG2000 Series gateways is availble in the User's Guide (Version 6.x Software).
The Dialogic® 4000 Media Gateway Series (DMG4000 Gateways) is getting a more significant enhancement to align with the new Microsoft release, including new hybrid gateway configurations. DMG4000 Gateways are designed to deliver both VoIP gateway functionality and assume the role of Mediation Server, which is Microsoft's technology for PSTN and PBX interoperability, high-fidelity VoIP, and security. Mediation Server software is integrated into the DMG4000 Gateways to keep the number of devices needed to a minimum and to reduce hardware maintenance. Details and specifications for the DMG4000 Gateways are provided in the datasheet.
- Dialogic® 4000 Media Gateway Series interoperability qualification is pending. The qualification process is underway with an expected completion date of July 2009. Product and product upgrade availability is as follows:
- Qualified DMG4000 Gateways will be available through distribution channels in August 2009.
- The DMG4000 Field Upgrade Kit for upgrading deployed gateways to Windows Server 2008 x64 and provides Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Mediation Server software is available today through distribution channels (reference SKU 306-408, DMG4000 SU3 Field Upgrade Kit, USB thumbdrive format).
- Qualified software upgrade will be available by request in early August for use with DMG4000 Gateways and DMG4000 Field Upgrade Kits.
A complete list of qualified hardware, including the Dialogic® Media Gateways qualified use with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2, is listed on the Microsoft Unified Communications Open Interoperability Program webpage.
ESTOS and Dialogic Provide Enhanced Solution for Microsoft® Office Communications Server 2007 Release 2
As an integrated media gateway based on a robust server platform, the DMG4000 Gateways are capable of hosting third-party Windows Server 2008 based applications. A runtime version of the ESTOS Call Control Gateway (ECCG) is pre-loaded on each DMG4000 Gateway with five complimentary seat licenses for trial purposes. When hosted on a DMG4000 Gateway, this third-party application can provide remote call control functionality for existing PBX infrastructure (classic, hybrid, or pure VoIP). The ECCG is middleware for Windows, which enables Office Communications Server 2007 R2 to control an existing PBX and PBX desk phone. The Microsoft® Office Communicator Client can initiate PBX desk phone activities, allowing Office Communications Server 2007 R2 to capture presence information for a legacy PBX desk phone and share it across an enterprise and with federated partners.
