High Density in a Small Footprint Helps VoIP Provider Succeed

Thompson Tham, Business Development Manager - SEA & ANZ

The leading VoIP service provider in its market, Gaharu Telecom Indonesia challenged us with a very tough "must-have" list for new equipment when it wanted to replace its aging system - high density in a small footprint to reduce its rack space rent, SS7 support for its growing mobile termination business and single-stage IDD, a rich feature set for complex carrier network designs, and, of course, carrier-level reliability.

We are happy to have the right product to meet all these demands - the Dialogic® IMG 1010 Integrated Media Gateway. As Sonny Hamdani, CEO at Gaharu Telecom Indonesia, says, "The IMG 1010 gives us exactly what we need to be competitive." Now the largest licensed VoIP operator in Indonesia in terms of revenue, capacity, and network size, Hamdani credits the IMG 1010 as one of the important factors in his company's success: "To grow this quickly and maintain our leadership reputation, we must have equipment of the high quality and reliability of the IMG 1010."

I invite you to read the details of this success in a new case study on our website.

Business Aspects

Understanding Quality of Experience in Mobile Video
A new white paper from Dialogic introduces Quality of Experience (QoE) in mobile video. It discusses how video quality is typically measured, provides information about some tools and techniques in use today, and suggests some promising ways to measure video quality in the future.

Concord and Dialogic Ready for Microsoft® Exchange Server 2010
A newly revised solution white paper proposes a simple way to handle PSTN fax calls in a Unified Messaging environment, using Concord Fax Online for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 from Concord Technologies, a fax service provider, and Dialogic® Media Gateways. Details are provided about the new features in Exchange Server 2010 that benefit users of this type of fax solution, including greater cost savings, increased uptime, and easier usability.

Analog Network Interface for HMP Planned
The new Dialogic® D/80PCIE-LS Media Board, which is based on Dialogic® Springware Architecture, is now available. This full-sized, 8-port analog PCI Express board can also serve as an analog network interface for Dialogic® Host Media Processing (HMP) Software when HMP Software for Windows® support is enabled for this function in Q1'10 (planned). HMP Software for Linux support is planned for later in 2010.

Technical Edge

Adding Analog Devices in a Unified Communications Environment
An FXS Gateway is an excellent solution if you need to add conference phones, fax machines, or other analog devices to a Unified Communications environment. A new technology brief explains how to combine Dialogic® Media Gateways and FXS Gateways to add analog devices and connect them to the PSTN.

Enhancing Asterisk® Capabilities with Dialogic® Diva® Media Boards
Dialogic® Diva® Media Boards make a powerful set of enhanced fax features available to Asterisk® PBX integrators and users. Diva Media Boards can also offload much of the media processing from Asterisk, resulting in increased efficiency and reliability. Because some additional Asterisk configuration is needed to use these capabilities, Dialogic has prepared an application note that describes them, and explains how to configure and use them.

Any-to-Any Routing Capabilities Available in DMG2000 Gateways
The Dialogic® 2000 Media Gateway Series (DMG2000 Gateways) Service Update 4 includes any-to-any routing capabilities. A new application note examines the existing routing capabilities of the DMG2000 Gateways as well as the enhanced routing capabilities that are planned for future DMG2000 Gateway releases.
