MTNL Chooses Dialogic Partners’ Mobile Video Solutions

By Jyoti Handa, Dialogic Regional Manager, India

The mobile market in India is very exciting right now, and I am pleased to report that Dialogic® technology is very much a part of that excitement. Recently, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL), one of India's largest mobile operators, chose solutions by our partners, Spice Digital and Baytalkitec, as part of the MTNL portfolio of 3G mobile video value-added service offerings.

Spice Digital is streaming live religious services and Bollywood content to mobile phones and is including a video avatar capability. Baytalkitec is providing video conferencing, video portals, and YouTube uploads. Dialogic® Host Media Processing Software Release 4.1LIN and the Dialogic® VisionTM CX Video Gateway enable these solutions.

Thanks to Dialogic technology, and the ingenuity of Spice Digital and Baytalkitec, these successful 3G mobile video solutions were able to "go live" very quickly, and more are planned in the near future. For more details, see our recent press release.

Business Aspects

Submit a Video Demo for the Dialogic YouTube Channel
If you have a video demo about a service or solution that is enabled with Dialogic® technology, we would like the opportunity to add it to the Playlist on our Dialogic YouTube Channel. If it is already uploaded on your channel, send a link to the demo to Fernando Alfaro and tell him how Dialogic technology is used in your application. If you do not have a channel, you can send the video to Fernando, along with a title, a short description for our Playlist, and information about how Dialogic technology is used in your application. Although we reserve the right to decide whether or not to include your video demo in our Playlist, we hope to include all the demos and demo links submitted to us.

New Delivery System Encourages 3G Development
Now that 3G networks are available in China, USTC iFLYTEK has combined its powerful world-class speech technology and Dialogic® media and signaling products to build an interactive 3G application delivery system with an IVVR interface based on a new "human-computer interaction" model. The new delivery system adds a powerful impetus to the development and deployment of 3G applications, and has already been widely deployed in the networks of the three major carriers in China. For more details, see our new case study.

Technical Edge

Handling Disruptive Situations
To maintain mission-critical communications, most enterprises deploy technology that addresses a wide range of potentially disruptive situations, including out of service endpoints, proxies, and application servers, as well as network outages and power failures. A new application note examines how Dialogic® 2000 Media Gateways can address these disruptive situations and provide survivability for Unified Communications solutions.

Certification Completed for Digium Interoperability Partner Program
In coordination with the recent announcement that Dialogic is now a Digium Interoperability Partner, Dialogic has published a new technology brief that discusses the benefits offered by integrating Asterisk®-based IP media servers with an existing PBX infrastructure using the Dialogic® Media Gateways that were recently certified for interoperability by Digium. A sample deployment diagram is included.
