Presented by Jeff Dworkin, Enterprise Marketing Manager, Dialogic Corporation
This free webinar examines and compares Fax Passthrough and T.38 Fax Relay for moving facsimile traffic through a converged Voice and Data network. It will also present detailed information on the effects of Delay, Jitter and Packet loss on each of these methods. In addition, it will cover the cost and administrative benefits of adding a Fax Servers to a converged network as well as additional benefits derived from including Multi-Function Peripherals (MFPs) in the network infrastructure.
Abstract: Completing the Convergence: Reliable Fax over your VoIP Network
The convergence of Voice and Data onto a single network is becoming a reality, with shipments of IP-PBXs now accounting for more than 50% of all new ports shipped. But in the exuberance of this ongoing technical revolution, little attention has been paid to the unreliability of traditional Fax technology if implemented over a VoIP network. Many IP-PBX vendors, VARs and Systems Integrators, have reasoned that "fax is going away soon anyway, so just connect your Fax machines to your VoIP network with an Analog Telephone Adaptor (ATA) and live with the 80%-90% success rate until fax just goes away" or that "you can just maintain a few Plain Old Telephone Lines to deal with Faxes until traditional fax technology goes away." However, facts suggest that fax technology will continue to be a major part of the telecom infrastructure for many years to come, in which case being able to effectively transition it to the IP infrastructure becomes important in order to be positioned to realize the financial and administrative benefits of a converged network.
This webinar examines and compares Fax Passthrough and T.38 Fax Relay for moving facsimile traffic through a converged Voice and Data network, and will present detailed information on the effects of Delay, Jitter and Packet loss has on each of these methods. Also covered will be the cost and administrative benefits offered by adding a Fax Server to a converged network, as well as the additional benefits that can be derived from including Multi-Function Peripherals (MFPs) in the network infrastructure.
