Diva ADSL USB Modem Installation Guide
Requirements:
Windows version: 98, Me, 2000 or XP. Windows 98 users should ensure that Dial-up Networking version 1.3 has been installed. (Note that Windows 95 and NT do not support USB).
Step 1:
Note: If you are following this procedure after a failed or partial installation, make sure you do an uninstall of the previous software first. Use the Diva ADSL USB uninstall procedure that is part of the Config program.
- Do not connect the USB cable to the USB Modem yet (see below)
- Place the Diva ADSL USB CD in the CD drive
- Use Windows Explorer to view the contents of the Diva CD
- Double click on the file called 'setup.exe'
- Allow the install process to proceed. Click 'Next' when requested
- Click 'Yes' to accept the licence
The settings page will appear. Accept the defaults which appear if the screen is greyed out. However, check that the provider and the settings match those which are to be used. If they need to be changed, accept the defaults anyway, and change the values using the Config / Settings program from the Eicon Diva ADSL USB program group after the install completes.
Note: Earlier versions of the software will present a choice between 'WAN' and 'LAN' drivers at this point. Click 'Next' to select the default WAN driver and continue.
- Windows 2000 or XP may produce the following screen at this point.
- Simply click 'Yes' to continue the installation
The drivers get copied across from the CD to Windows and the installation of the drivers is completed.
- Click 'Finish' to continue
Step 2:
At this point in the installation, the software will pop up a window requesting that the USB Modem should now be connected.
- Now plug the USB cable into the Diva ADSL Modem
- Note: The USB LEDs will not come on at this point
- Windows should immediately detect the presence of the new device
- The drivers will be detected and installed automatically
- You will then be asked to restart the PC.
Upon a successful restart, a Dial-up Networking Connection will have been created, a short-cut to this will be placed on the Windows desktop, and the Eicon Diva ADSL USB program group will be available from the Windows 'Programs' menu.
Note: When the drivers have been copied and installed the 'Ready' light (LED) on the USB will become illuminated.
The ADSL USB LEDs provide device status information:
- 'Ready' - The left-hand LED indicates that the unit has been initialised and is ready for use.
- 'ADSL' - The middle LED is for ADSL synchronisation:
- Flashing means that synch is being attempted
- Steady means that synch is OK
- 'Data' (or two arrows - representing 'Receive' and 'Transmit') -
The right-hand LED will flash only when data is actually being received
or transmitted.
- Note: On early versions of the software, this light may come on permanently and the functionality simply matches that of the 'Ready' light.
