Testing and Diagnostic Programs - Fax and Voice Diagnostic (FVD) Tools
There are test programs available from Dialogic to confirm the hardware is working properly in the computer, and that it is able to successfully fax. These programs confirm compatibility with the computer, and connectivity to the phone line (e.g. analog, digital, PBX, telco). The documentation is included within these downloads.
Below are several Fax and Voice Diagnostic (FVD) Tools available for download. If you have already installed a LAN-fax application, it is important to download the Tool that matches with the driver that was installed with the LAN-fax application. The supported driver versions are mentioned for each version of the FVD Tool.
These are standalone test tools, which means that they are applications just like your LAN-fax application. Only one application can run at a time so please make sure that you stop your LAN-fax application before using one of these tools. Once you have got your board to work with one of these tools, you have to exit this tool, and redo the configuration in the same way in your application.
Find the correct version of the program for your installation
To find out which driver version you have installed you must search for the driver 'boston.sys' on your LAN-fax server. The file will be normally located under C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers. To find the driver version, right mouse click on the file to get the File Properties, and look at the Version Tab.Installation
These files are self-extracting zip filed. Place in an empty directory (i.e. named FaxDiag) and run from Windows or command prompt to uncompress contents into that directory. Subdirectories containing versions of the program for use with different versions of drivers will be automatically created during the extraction.Using the test programs

In the case where there is no driver installed, the utility will install one for you (and offer to un-install when you are done).
Please note that Windows NT is supported only for the 4.7 and 4.8 subdirectories.

In the case where there is no driver installed, the utility will install one for you (and offer to un-install when you are done).
Note that the version for v4.5 is Win32 console-based.
Note that only the version for v4.7 supports voice testing, while they all support fax. If you want to test voice and you have driver v4.5 or v4.6 installed, you will first have to un-install that driver before running the test and re-install it later when you are done testing.
