Diva Client products
What can I do with my Diva Client card?
Diva Client cards include:
- Passive cards such as the Diva ISDN PCI (Diva 2.01 and Diva 2.02), Diva ISDN USB and the Diva Mobile.
- Intelligent cards such as the Diva Pro ISDN (Diva Pro 2.0 and Diva Pro 3.0), and Diva Pro PC Cards.
With both types of cards, a number of application interfaces are provided
by the latest Diva Client drivers which allow a variety of third-party applications to be used with the cards.
Passive Diva Client cards:
Passive Diva Client devices are designed to provide easy Internet access and basic fax functionality.
Fax applications can be used that either require the CAPI 2.0 interface or require a 'virtual' fax modem to be installed. Only one fax call can be processed at a time.
Passive Diva Client devices are not suitable for calls to and from analogue modems.
Intelligent Diva Client cards:
The Diva Pro cards are intelligent devices that provide advanced analogue capability via a
Digital Signal Processor (DSP) that minimises the use of PC processing resources.
Using the Diva Pro, it is possible to use both CAPI and modem based applications. Only one analogue or fax call can be processed at a time.
Sometimes, there may be more than one telephone number assigned to the ISDN line. This is commonly known as Multiple Subscriber Numbers (MSN).
In order to differentiate which of the available MSN numbers is to answer an incoming call,
consider the following situations:
If a CAPI application is used, the application itself must be configured with one of the
MSN numbers in order for it to answer incoming calls to that number.
- If a COM-port or modem-based application is used, the virtual Diva modem used by the application must be configured.
- With an AT command specifying which MSN number to answer.
All types of virtual modems installed with Diva Pro cards can be configured to answer calls coming in on specific numbers.
However not all virtual modems installed with passive cards can be configured with MSN numbers - specifically the analog faxmodem cannot be configured to 'listen' for calls on a specific number.
Therefore, if multiple applications are used to answer various types of incoming calls, and one of these applications requires the use of a fax modem, it is recommended to use a Diva Pro card.
