Installing the built-in drivers in Windows 2000/XP

Windows 2000 and XP automatically detect the Diva Client product and install a basic driver for the device. This driver is referred to as the built-in driver for Diva cards. If no drivers for the Diva Client card have been installed from the Diva Client Software Suite CD or via a download from the Eicon site, then it is probable that the built-in driver has been installed.

To check if this is the case, view the properties of the Diva Card in Device Manager. The built-in driver is installed if one of the following driver versions appears in the driver tab

  • Version 1.0.XXX.XXX (Windows 2000)
  • Version 3.4.XXX.XXX (Windows XP)

This is illustrated for Windows 2000 in the screenshot below:

Note: With the built-in driver it is only possible to create dial-up connections.

It is not possible to:

  • Use programs that require the CAPI interface (often used by programs for faxing)
  • Send or receive a fax, since no Analogue Faxmodem is installed.
  • Configure virtual modems such as a V.120 or X.75 modem.
  • Run Diagnostic programs like Line Check as these are not included with the built-in drivers.

If any of this additional functionality is required, the latest Diva Client drivers must be installed.
