How to receive telephone calls while browsing the Internet

Q: My Diva ISDN card and my telephone are connected to the NT1 box. Every time I am online, I cannot receive telephone calls. How can I solve this problem?

A: If incoming telephone calls cannot be received, it may be that the Diva card is trying to answer the call. To resolve this, configure a number for the Diva card to 'listen' to, and a different number for the telephone.
Some NT1s, such as BT Home Highway, have 2 ISDN and 2 analogue sockets to allow for flexibility in making different types of calls. Usually, with this type of NT1, the phone company supplies at least 2 numbers (called Multiple Subscriber Numbers) so that each device attached to the NT1 can be associated with a unique number.
The aim of the procedure below is to configure the Diva card with a particular MSN number. Even if you only have one MSN number, a fake number can be associated with the Diva card so that it does not answer any incoming calls.

Solution:

Go to Device Manager and Network Adpaters. Select the Diva card and choose properties. Go to the ISDN tab and select Configure.
Configure it with the number that it should answer calls on. For more detailed instructions on how to configure MSN please look at the following page. How to configure MSN numbers

This will ensure that the Diva card only answers incoming calls on the number specified, and not on any other number. For further information about Multiple Subscriber Numbering (MSN) please look at the following page MSN Overview.
