Detection and Download of the D4PCI-U Causes Warnings in Windows* Event Viewer
Problem Description:When the user tries to detect and download a D4PCIU in a Windows* 2000 machine the following warnings can be found in the Windows* Event Viewer:
EventID: 1
Source: CT Bus Broker
Type: Warning
TDM bus user settings were rewritten because of bus configuration failure 0x20000060. This will happen if the resources have changed and is usually not cause for alarm.
EventID: 2
Source: dlgc_log
Type: Warning
Cannot find Timeslot Requirements file: C:\PROGRA~1\Dialogic\cfg\sctscfg
Exiting timeslot assignment program
Solution Summary:
Setup and configuration of the CT Bus and assignment of timeslots are accomplished by the CT Bus Broker and Sctsassign components during the download phase of any Dialogic® Telephony Board. When trying to configure the bus on a D4PCIU warnings are logged in the event viewer by these components due to the absence of a CT Bus on the board.
Technical Discussion:
CT Bus Broker is a Windows* service which is responsible for the CT Bus configuration of the system. It is called during the detection/download process and determines how the bus will be set up based on the capabilities of boards in the System. If the bus capabilities of a board cannot be determined CT Bus Broker will generate the first warning seen above in the event viewer.
Sctsassign is a process which executes during download. It is executed after genload and used the sctscfg file generated by that process for timeslot assignment of the board. If the file is missing sctsassign generates the second warning seen above in the event viewer.
With the absence of the CT Bus on the D4PCIU no bus or timeslot configuration is needed for this board. Therefore the warnings generated above by CT Bus Broker and Sctsassign are not critical since they have no effect on any of the functionality the board can provide.
