Diva Media Board Installation overview


This article provides an overview of the hardware and software installation process for Dialogic® Diva® Media Boards and includes links to more detailed material.


1.  Install the Dialogic® Diva® Media Boardmore detailed information

  • Hardware installation is successful when Windows auto-detects the Diva board as a new device.
  • You can also check in Windows Device Manager to see if the Diva board is detected as a network adapter.
  • If the Diva board is not detected, check the hardware installation guide.
  • If the board is properly detected, proceed to step 2.



2. Install the Dialogic® Diva® System Release Software -  more detailed information

  • The software installation is successful when the driver installation routine detects the Diva board and installation finishes without error messages.
  • If the installation routine fails to start, check that the correct driver version was downloaded for your operating system and Diva Media Board.  In particular, you should check that the Diva System Release Software supports your Diva Media Board.
  • To verify successful driver installation, open the Diva Configuration Manager.
  • If the Diva Configuration Manager only contains Dialogic® Diva® softIP, then the hardware Diva Media Board was not detected. Check the hardware installation guide.
  • If the Diva Configuration Manager shows the Diva board, proceed to step 3.



3. Configure the Diva® System Release Softwaremore detailed information

  • The Diva software is successfully configured if your application can detect and access the board and if calls are working.
  • If your application detects the board but fails to make calls, check the line configuration.
  • If your application fails to detect the board, verify that the appropriate interface is installed and configured.


Diva Media Board Hardware Installation
Follow these steps to install a Diva Media Board board in your machine. Common safety rules apply.
  • Power off the server.
  • Plug the board in a free PCI/PCI-X or PCIe slot depending on the type of your board. Secure the board with the slot bolts.
  • Connect the phone line.
  • Power on the Server and boot the operating system.

Diva System Release Software Installation
Follow these steps to download and install the Diva System Release including the configuration, testing and diagnostic tools.
  • Download the appropriate System Release from the Software Download Wizard to an empty folder.
  • Double-click  DivaALL.EXE to unpack the archive.
  • Start the driver installation by running SETUP.EXE.
  • All Diva Media Boards will be automatically updated. A reboot of the machine is suggested.

Diva System Release Software configuration
  • The default installation configures the board for the most common line and application requirements.
  • Depending on your line interface you might have to configure the line properties so that the board can communicate with your phone line.
  • Additionally you might have to add additional services so that your application can access the board.
Diva Media Board Line Configuration

Open Diva Configuration Manager and select the corresponding port (BRI, PRI or Analog) on the line layer.
Make sure that the settings configured here match your line requirements. Contact your line provider for the required settings.
Activate configuration changes via File > Activate. Reboot the machine if required.

The following are the most relevant line parameters on Diva BRI or Diva PRI boards:
  • Switch Type - Sets the ISDN D-channel protocol of your line.
    • Default for EMEA region is Euro-ISDN
  • Interface Type - Set the required line interface.
    • Default for BRI boards is Point to Multipoint (S-Mode)
    • Default for PRI is Point to Point (T-Mode)
  •  Layer 2 Connect Mode - Set the D-channel layer 2 connection policy of your line.
    • No Disconnect is the default setting for BRI lines.
    • Permanent is the default setting for PRI lines.
  • Operation Mode - Set whether the board operates as terminal endpoint (default) or network termination point.
The following are the most relevant line parameters on Diva Analog boards:
  • Country Selection - Set the appropriate country setting for your installation.
  • Dial Type - Set Tone (default) or Pulse dialing.
  • Off-Hook Speed / Line Calibration -  Set off-hook adjustment and calibration procedure of the analog front end.
    • Default setting is Normal.
For more detailed information select a parameter in Diva Configuration Manager and press F1.

To verify the line configuration use the Diva Line Test Tool.

If all tests fail, double-check the line configuration. If you are sure the line configuration is correct but you still cannot make calls, follow these instructions.

How to configure a Diva Media Board for your application.
Verify which driver interface (RAS, virtual modem, TAPI, CAPI 2.0, SNMP) your application uses to access the board. Contact your application provider for any questions.

 If your application uses another interface than CAPI 2.0 insert the interface as a new service in the Diva Configuration Manager.
  • Open Diva Configuration Manager.
  • Select the required interface from the 'Insert' menu.
  • Create a binding by right-clicking the new icon, keeping the mouse button pressed, and dragging the arrow to the board icon to which you want it to connect. The cursor will change to indicate that a binding can be created.
  • Activate your configuration via File > Activate.
  • Reboot if required.
