Windows Fax Service receives calls but cannot make calls

Problem:

Windows Fax Service receives calls but cannot make calls. All outbound calls fail without that the called party rings.

Validation procedure:

- Double-check in Windows Fax Service Manager that the Diva Fax Modem is configured for Sending.

- Double-check that you can dial out using Diva Line Test Tool.

If Diva Line Test Tool can successfully dial out only when a Calling Party Number (originating number) is set, then this number needs to be used as originating number for the Diva Fax Modem.

How to set an originating number for a Diva Fax Modem:

To do this, open Windows Telephone and Modem Options in Control Panel and open the properties of the Diva Fax Modem used for outbound calls. If in doubt you may perform the change for all listed Diva Fax Modems.

To specify the originating number, type AT+iO<NUMBER> as 'Extra initialization commands' and click OK.

The modem driver will place this number as the origination address. For this example the originating (calling) number is set to 42.
