DMG 1000/2000 lock up and reboot issue when network scanning is implemented

Symptom:

The Dialogic® 1000/2000 Media Gateways (DMG Gateways) may lock up and become unresponsive such that the only option to recover the DMG Gateway is to reboot it. This is reported when connected to the network even when there is no traffic flowing into the DMG Gateways.

Reason for the issue:

If there is no traffic going through the DMG Gateway, it should not lock up or use 99% of resources. One possible cause for the issue is that the DMG Gateway is being scanned by a network security port scanner. The network scanner will typically scan ports on the network which can overload processing on the DMG Gateway.

The DMG Gateway trace logs may show a log entry such as the one below, and are a possible indicator that the DMG Gateway is being overloaded.  Note the report is from a trace log obtained from the DMG Gateway before it is rebooted.

Dec 19 19:22:19 192.168.22.108 Gateway Software Fault [0x0001] [0  ] [Critical Task [tNetTask] Utilization=99%: Unit Restart]

Solution:

If there is a network scanner placed on site, it must be ensured that the IP address of the DMG Gateway is excluded from the scan.
