Dialogic® Host Media Processing (HMP) Software
Some VPN software changes the order of network devices, causing Dialogic® HMP Software to fail startup.
Symptom:
VPN software can change the order of network devices, causing Dialogic® Host Media Processing (HMP) Software services to fail startup.
Reason for the issue:
VPN client software can install a virtual network adapter with a different MAC Address to the physical network adapters in the system, and then alter the priority order of the network adapters, making the VPN virtual network adapter the primary network adapter. Because the Dialogic® HMP Software licensing is based on the MAC Address of the original primary physical network adapter, Dialogic HMP Software fails to verify the license on startup.
Fix / Solution:
If the VPN client changes the network adapter priority order, the user can change the order so that the original network adapter is again first in priority, thus allowing Dialogic HMP Software to detect the correct MAC Address during its startup check.
Workaround:
From Control Panel, open up the Network Connections.
Click on the "Advanced" tab and select "Advanced Settings".
Find the original network adapter, for example: "Local Area Connection" and select it.
Use the arrow button to move the selection to the top of the list, above the VPN adapter.
Then restart the server.
