Dialogic® Host Media Processing (HMP) Software

Multiple products using third party licensing tool

Problem Description:
If more than one product is installed on a system in which both use LMTOOLS from Macrovision, (FlexLM licensing package) (e.g. HMP and Real Speak), they will both try to use port 27000. It appears that the lmgrd.exe running for both products uses port 27000 by default configuration. Because the port id is not specified, Flexnet Licensing system automatically uses the first available TCP/IP port in the range of 27000 – 27009. As a result, the Flexnet licensing system is using the first port, 27000, for both systems which leads to an error or the licensing server for one product or the other will not work correctly.

Solution Summary:
This issue can be resolved on the HMP side by specifying an unused port number in the license file (Dialogic\data\*.lic).

Technical Discussion:
The following changes can be made to the HMP license file in order to work with other products that use LMTOOLS.

• Fragment of the proposed modified HMP License with specific 27007 port number:
SERVER this_host ANY 27007
VENDOR INTEL
FEATURE Voice INTEL 2.0 permanent 4 \
VENDOR_STRING=LIC_TYPE=Purchased,APP=HMP,HOSTID=300C09F3828A9 \
HOSTID=00c09f3828a9 vendor_info=Vendor_Info TS_OK \
SIGN=25064DC42AE2

• To display all connections and listening ports, and display the executable that is involved in creating each connection or listening port, from a command prompt, you can type: netstat – a –b > c:\netstat.txt. (This will pipe all output to a .txt file). For help with usage, type: netstat -?

• After making the modification to the license file, Lmgrd.exe should report that it is listening on port 27007 (or whatever you modified it to listen on).
TCP GVCE-TEST007:27007 GVCE-TEST007:0 LISTENING 3884 [lmgrd.exe]
