Cooling Requirements for Dialogic® DMG1000 Media Gateway Series and Dialogic® DMG2000 Media Gateway Series

Question:
When using Dialogic® 1000 Media Gateway Series (DMG1000 Gateways) or Dialogic® 2000 Media Gateway Series (DMG2000 Gateways) in a rack enclosure, network administrators may need to know how to plan for their cooling requirements

Information:

The following information was arrived upon as a result of calculating the BTUs per hour rating of a Dialogic® Media Gateway using the following formula:

Watts * 3.1413 

The watts value was determined via known loads and power supply efficiencies, not the power ratings printed on the power supplies units of the gateways.

Dialogic® DMG2120DTIW Media Gateway = 63 BTU/hour

Dialogic® DMG1008DNIW & DMG1008LSW Media Gateways = 66 BTU/hour

The lower density DMG2000 Gateways and other models, as well as the lower densities of the 1000 series translate to slightly lesser cooling requirements.
