Dialogic® Multimedia Platform for AdvancedTCA

A missing network configuration item can cause eth6 routing issues

Symptom:

After installing the Dialogic® Multimedia Platform for AdvancedTCA (MMP for ATCA) software and configuring the system, network routing through eth6 and the AMC fails.

Lines similar to the following are found in /var/log/messages.

Oct 14 20:08:24 fmg70 nmbd[2065]: [2007/10/14 20:08:24, 0] lib/interface.c:load_interfaces(220)
Oct 14 20:08:24 fmg70 nmbd[2065]: WARNING: no network interfaces found

Issue:

It has been observed that after MMP for ATCA software re-install or network reconfiguration, network routing through eth6 may fail due to incomplete network configuration of the default gateway device.

Fix:

Check to make sure the /etc/sysconfig/network file includes the line:

GATEWAYDEV=eth6

Explanation:

eth6 is the network interface that MMP for ATCA uses to communicate with the AMC and carries the RTP streams.  The GATEWAYDEV= line is used in Linux to specify the device to be used as the default gateway.  Setting GATEWAYDEV to eth6 makes the route to the AMC.
