CCP Compression Control Protocol, CCP, is a standard for how data is to be compressed for transferal over PPP links (e.g. an ISDN connection). CCP specifies how to enable compression algorithms for data compression at the sender’s end, and how to disable them for decompression at the receiver’s end. CCP supports both switched and leased (dedicated) lines, and allows equipment from different manufacturers to communicate with data compression. Even if one end of the link does not support data compression data can still be exchanged, albeit without the benefits of compression.
