PPP Point-to-Point Protocol is a standard networking protocol used for modem and ISDN connections to the Internet. It is called Point-to-Point because the connection is established between two points, e.g. a local computer and a server. MPPP, Multilink Point-to-Point Protocol, is a variation of PPP, which allows more than one channel in the ISDN line to be used simultaneously for increased transfer speed. SPPP is a synchronous version of the otherwise asynchronous PPP.
