| Warning: Do not change or delete any of the five default firewall
rules on Safepipe, as you might cause the firewall to malfunction. However,
if you do, it is possible to re-generate the default rules by deleting all
rules in the rule table and then pressing the 'Apply Changes' button. |
-
On Safepipe's management interface, click 'Network' > 'Firewall'.

-
EITHER
Add a rule to the rule table by pressing the 'Add Rule' button. The new
rule will appear at the top of the rule table.

OR
Choose 'Insert above' from the drop down menu to the left of an existing
rule that you want to place the new rule above, and press the 'Apply Changes'
button.

Note: It is very important
to be aware of the order in which you place the rules in the firewall rule
table on Safepipe. For more information on this, read the FAQ ‘Do
I have to place the firewall rules in the Safepipe firewall rule table in
a certain order?’.
-
Click on the (temporary) name of the new rule. This will take you to the
firewall rule editor.

-
Configure the rule by specifying the information needed for the entry fields
in the editor. Explicit configuration help is available by clicking the
'Help' icon in the top right corner of the screen.

-
Check the box next to 'Log', if you wish to enable the log feature for
this rule and monitor how the rule works.

Enabling the log will reduce overall Safepipe performance
and it is recommended to use the feature only for specific purposes and
not permanently.
-
When you have configured the rule, press the 'Apply Changes' button for
the configuration to take effect. This will bring you back to the rule table.

-
If you did not enable the rule in the rule editor, select 'Enable' from
the drop down menu to the left in the rule table to activate the rule, and
press the 'Apply Changes' button.
