Printer-friendly versionHow to configure Safepipe's public IP address

Prerequisites

  • You must have received a public, globally routable IP address from your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

If you have a router connected to the line that connects your network to your ISP, you will have to ask the ISP for a second IP address that you can use as Safepipe's public IP address.

  • Safepipe must be installed.

You must have assigned a private (LAN) IP address to Safepipe, and you must be able to connect to the browser-based configuration interface.

Procedure

  1. Open Safepipe's browser-based management interface.

See here how you connect to the configuration interface.

  2. Click on the 'Network' icon, then click on the 'IP' icon.

  3. You will now see a dialog box like the one below. Make sure that the Private Interface (Ethernet1/LAN1) settings are correct.

The IP address and subnet mask values were entered when Safepipe was installed.

Dialog box - Private I/F settings

  1. Enter the Public Interface (Ethernet2/LAN2) settings below the Private Interface settings.

If there is a router connected between Safepipe and the Internet, enter the IP address of the router as 'Gateway IP' (as in the example below).

If there is no router connected between Safepipe and the Internet, and you wish to use Safepipe as gateway, enter the public IP address of Safepipe as 'Gateway IP'.

Dialog box - Public I/F settings

  1. Press the 'Apply Changes' button to save the changes and finish.
