Analogue A continuous form of representation. Traditional wristwatches with hands are often used to describe how an analogue device works: the hands move continuously, touching an infinite number of points on their way. Digital watches, on the other hand, display the time discontinuously, going from one set value to another without a theoretically infinite number of points in between. Digital representation is also the system used in computers, which at their most basic level distinguish between two simple set values: 0 and 1. Generally speaking, people experience the world by analogue representation: as a continuous series of events. Most events can, however, be convincingly represented digitally, as the widespread use of digital devices (computers, CD-players, digital watches, etc.) indicates.
