HTTP HyperText Transfer Protocol, HTTP, is the underlying standard for the exchange of data between Web servers and Web clients (browsers). When you enter the address of a Web server, ‘HTTP://’ is typed in as the first part of the URL (in the format ‘HTTP://www.company.com’) to indicate that it is a request for an HTTP service.
