Configuration The term ‘configuration’ is often used as a description of the way a computer’s or other device’s operating system is set up. When installing a new computer or device it is often necessary to configure it by defining various settings and values, such as language preferences, network location, etc. Configuration, however, can also refer to the physical makeup of a computer. Examples of e.g. PC configurations can typically be seen in computer retailers’ adverts.
