Internet service provider An Internet service provider, ISP, is a company that provides Internet-related services such as access to the Internet. The cost of Internet services depends on the services provided, and it varies among the ISPs. A typical Internet package includes an access phone number, a username, a password and a software package, all needed for users to be able to browse the World Wide Web and send and receive e-mail via a computer with a modem. Other Internet services are hosting of Web sites (Web hotels) and direct connectivity from a company’s network to the Internet. Finding an ISP in the local area secures that the user doesn’t have to dial long distance phone numbers to access the Internet, thus keeping down phone costs.
