Intranet For information sharing, many companies and organisations build internal networks based on the same technologies (TCP/IP, firewall, HTTP, etc.) that are used on the Internet. These local networks are called intranets. They are accessible only by employees / members. An intranet’s Web site looks and acts like Web sites on the Internet. A firewall shields the intranet, thus preventing hacker attempts.
