Can I use Windows 2000´s native client with Safepipe? Yes, it is possible to use Windows 2000´s native client with Safepipe, provided both devices have been configured accordingly.
Configuration on the Safepipe is straightforward, while it is slightly more complicated on the Windows 2000 client PC. Most users of Windows 2000´s native client may therefore prefer to have their network administrator configure their PC.

On Safepipe:
Set up a restricted tunnel the following way:
- Name the restricted tunnel in the "Tunnel name" field
- Enter the IP address of the Windows 2000 client PC in the "IP Address of Remote Device" field
- Select "Shared secret" in the "Authentication Method" field, and enter a shared secret string
- Enter the local private network details in the "Local Network" and "Local Subnet Mask" fields
- Enter the IP address of the Windows 2000 client PC in the "Remote Network" field
- Enter 255.255.255.255 in the "Remote Subnet Mask" field
- Uncheck the "IP Compression" and "NAT Tunnelling" checkboxes. You may leave the "Netbios" box checked
- Click the "Apply Changes" button
On the Windows 2000 client PC:
First install the latest Service Pack for Windows 2000.
Then install the Encryption Pack for Windows 2000.
With the latest Service Pack and Encryption Pack installed, you are ready to configure the Windows 2000 client´s security settings.
