This guide describes how you restore a previously saved configuration on Safepipe
or restore its default factory settings.
- The Safepipe Administration Tool must be installed on your workstation.
The Administration Tool can be found on the Administrator's
CD-ROM that came bundled with Safepipe. Alternatively, you may download
it.
-
Safepipe must be in 'Service mode':
A. If you are able to access Safepipe's management interface,
select 'System' > 'Access' > 'Management' and click on the 'Service
Mode' button.

B. If you don't have access to the management interface, press
the 'Service' button on Safepipe's front panel with a paperclip.
-
Open the Safepipe Administration Tool. Click 'Next' on the first screen.
When the tool has detected the device, click 'Next' once more.
Note: If the Administration
Tool detects more than one Safepipe in Service Mode, select the appropriate
one from the list that appears, then click 'Next'.
-
Select the action 'Restore configuration' and click 'Next'.
-
Select 'Restore factory settings' or 'Restore saved configuration'.
A. If you select 'Restore factory settings', check this radio
button and click 'Next'.
Note: On the next screen
you will have the option of saving a backup of the current configuration.
If you have forgotten the administrator password, you will not be
able to use a backup, as the password is needed when you restore the backup.
B. If you select 'Restore saved configuration', check this
radio button and click 'Browse'. When you have located and selected the
backup, click 'Open'. Then enter the administrator password and click 'Next.
-
If you wish to back up Safepipe's current configuration, check the box
'Back up Configuration' and enter the path and file name of the configuration
file that you are about to save. Then click 'Next'.

-
Enter the password (twice) and click 'Next'.
-
When the settings have been restored on Safepipe, you are asked whether
you want to launch Safepipe's management interface after restart. When you
click 'Finish', Safepipe exits service mode and restarts in normal operation
mode.
