Overview of creating routes

The Video Gateway uses a routing table to route incoming calls based on their destination and originating numbers. This table uses standard pattern matching syntax to provide a wide range of functionality, including the ability to perform lookups, manipulate digits, and route calls in the following directions:

Each route in the gateway routing table is associated with a routing profile. A default routing profile is provided by the video gateway. You can modify the default routing profile to suit your environment, and define additional profiles as needed.

The gateway routing table does not have default routes. After you configure the Video Gateway, you must define default routes, as described in this section.

In rare circumstances, you might need routing functionality that goes beyond what the gateway routing table can provide. For information, see Fine tuning gateway routing.
