SIP load balancing

This example shows how to add load balancing to a gateway route.

Step Action

1

Access the Vision Console, as described in Accessing the Vision Console.

2

Click Gateway profiles in the Provisioning menu. The Routing profiles configuration page with the default profile is displayed.

3

In the SIP section, enter the list of possible SIP destinations in the Destination address field. For example: 192.168.0.1,192.168.0.2 (no space between SIP destinations). For information, see SIP routing profile parameters.

The calls will be load-balanced randomly on both SIP destinations.

Click Submit.

For example, the following routing table entry uses SIP load balancing.

Note: Do not include any host information in the Outgoing Called party field; otherwise, the Destination address functionality will not work.

The following rule is used in this example:

Rule

Description

1

Matches and captures all digits from PSTN calling/called numbers and inserts them into SIP From/To headers.

Sample Input/Output: Incoming PSTN (rule 1 match)

Calling: tel:8479258900 => From: sip:8479258900@vision.com

Called:  tel:5082711000 => To: sip:5082711000

The call will be placed randomly on any one of the destinations specified in the Destination address field in the routing profile.
