The following Eiconcards are supported: C90, C91, C91_V2 S90, S91, S91_V2, S94, S94 66M, S94_V2, S94 PCIe 6. Installation ======================================================================== You must be logged in as ROOT in order to install and configure the following services. Installing Eiconcard Services ----------------------------- It is recommended that the Eiconcard(s) be installed in your system before you install the Eiconcard Services software. Install the Eiconcard Services package as follows: # rpm -ivh /mnt/cdrom/Linux/SC_Series// Eiconcard_Services-VvRr_xxxx-xx-xxx.xxxx.rpm (replace 'v', 'r' and 'x' with corresponding numbers that appears in the file name on the CD; see description in section 3. Package Contents) This will create the /opt/dialogic/c4l directory that contains the Eiconcard Services software. You can now configure the Eiconcard drivers and the WAN Protocols. WAN Protocol Configuration -------------------------- Run the configuration script as follows: # cd /opt/dialogic/c4l # ./eiconcfg Select option 4 "Configure Eiconcard Protocols" and make the appropriate protocol configuration choices. When you have completed your configuration, you will be prompted to reload the Eiconcard. The Eiconcards are now ready for use. See the user's guide and the HTML help pages for more information on available commands and options. Installing Eiconcard Routing Services ------------------------------------- Install the Eicon Routing Services package as follows: # rpm -ivh /mnt/cdrom/Linux/SC_Series// Eiconcard_Router-VvRr_xxxx-xx-xxx.xxxx.rpm (replace 'v', 'r' and 'x' with corresponding numbers that appears in the file name on the CD; see description in section 3. Package Contents) Once this package is installed, additional services (Routing Services & Compression Modules) will become available in the Eiconcard Services Protocol Configuration program. To enable these additional services, run /opt/dialogic/c4l/eiconcfg, select option 2, then press F4 to reach the Protocol Configuration panel. Compression Modules must be enabled if you are using Routing Services. If you leave them disabled, the Eiconcard will experience a fatal error if one of the following occurs: - the remote router attempts to negotiate compression - the PPP line protocol is used Note that routing options are not configurable via /opt/dialogic/c4l/eiconcfg. There are two methods that can be used to configure the routing services: ECCLI and Manual. ECCLI Method ------------ The Eiconcard Command Line Interface (ECCLI) application can be used to configure the routing services and automatically generate the routing services configuration file (mpr.if). Refer to the ECCLI documentation for details. Manual Method ------------- Optionally you can manually create and modify the mpr.if file in /opt/dialogic/c4l. For details on the mpr.if file and how to configure a router for your Eiconcard(s), see the documentation and samples. The top level of the documentation is located in /opt/dialogic/c4l/docs/mprif.html. Sample configurations are located in /opt/dialogic/c4l/mpr-if. Note that if you edit the mpr.if file, it is recommended that you use the "vi" editor. Installing Eiconcard PAD Services --------------------------------- Install the Eiconcard PAD Services package as follows: # rpm -ivh /mnt/cdrom/Linux/SC_Series// Eiconcard_PAD_Services-VvRr_xxxx-xxx.xxxx.rpm (replace 'v', 'r' and 'x' with corresponding numbers that appears in the file name on the CD; see description in section 3. Package Contents) This will install HPAD and TPAD. To configure TPAD and HPAD: # cd /opt/dialogic/c4l # ./eiconcfg Select option 6: Configure PAD The program used by PAD Services to dial in is mgetty. You should modify the mgetty configuration file (/etc/mgetty+sendfax/mgetty.config) to reflect your system's configuration. For more information on configuring mgetty, consult your Red Hat/SuSE documentation. For more information on how to configure HPAD and TPAD, consult the Eiconcard Connections for Linux User's Guide. Completing the Installation --------------------------- You will need to reboot your PC to activate the new configuration. 7. Configuration ======================================================================== Eiconcard Services ------------------ The Eiconcard Services software is configured using the 'eiconcfg' utility located in /opt/dialogic/c4l. Eiconcard Command Line Interface (eccli) --------------------------------- Once the card is installed using 'eiconcfg' both the card can also be configured and managed using 'eccli' from the Eicon folder. 8. Known Issues ======================================================================== Documentation --------------------- Chapter 3 of the user guide documents how to install and configure an Eiconcard. The section entitled "Eiconcard Services Driver Configuration" has not been updated to reflect the new installation process. The new installation process in this release is largely automatic and does not require the manual steps documented in that section of the user guide. The information in Section 6 of this document supersedes that section of the user guide. The process documented in the "Configure Advanced Driver Options" section of Chapter 3 is obsolete and no longer required. In tpad.html the following text: "Once the connection has been established with the remote site, the PAD is in the data state. Once in the data state, you may transmit data to, and receive data from, the remote site. You can switch from a data state to a cmd state by using the PAD escape character (usually Ctrl-P -- see the PAD parameter cmd). The call you switched from is not cleared. You can return to the data state by sending a blank line to the PAD." should read: "Once the connection has been established with the remote site, the PAD is in the data state. Once in the data state, you may transmit data to, and receive data from, the remote site. Using X.25 and other protocols on 2 port cards ----------------------------------------------- When using X.25 on one port and a different protocol on the other port of a 2 port card (S94 series), X.25 must be configured to use port #1. Note that configuring X.25 on both ports will work as expected. Using Routing Services on 2 port cards -------------------------------------- When using routing services with X.25 on 2 port cards (S94 V2 Series) the second port becomes unavailable for other applications. Both ports must be used for Routing Services if Routing Services are used with X.25. Using X.25 with another protocol will operate as expected. ECCLI -f option --------------- The ECCLI -f option (import configuration) does not automatically save the imported configuration. The save command must be issued to save the imported configuration. UTF and LANG ---------------------------------- Red Hat Linux 4.0 and Red Hat 5.0 installs using UTF-8 (Unicode) by default in languages other than Chinese, Japanese, or Korean. This has been known to cause various issues: e.g. in "make menuconfig" and in "eccfg", the line drawing characters do not appear correctly. To fix this, set /etc/sysconfig/i18n to not use UTF-8 as standard (edit the file and change the font type "en_us: UTF-8" in LANG variable to "en_us"). Also, in Red Hat 4.0 and Red Hat 5.0, Keytable corruption can happen if keyboard is US- English (default): e.g. in "eccfg", the F2 function key will not behave as it should. To work around this issue, change the keyboard to US-International in /etc/sysconfig/keyboard file, by replacing "us" by "us-acentos". ISDN Remote Service Type ------------------------- For the S91v2 , the 56k option in the "Remote Service Type" is not supported on this card. Eiconcard Command Line Interface (ECCLI) ----------------------------------------- ECCLI configuration: When initiating the Eiconcard configuration via the eccli application it is not recommended to alternate between eccli and other configuation applications (eccfg or eiconcfg). ECCLI Router configuration: The user may configure the routing files using the manual mpr.if method, or by using the routing options in eccli. It is recommended that you do not interchange the two methods. IP Filters are not supported by ECCLI. 9. Removal ======================================================================== Removing Eiconcard PAD Services ------------------------------- To remove Eiconcard PAD Services, do the following: # rpm -e Eiconcard_PAD_Services Removing Eiconcard Router --------------------------- To remove the Eiconcard Router, do the following: # rpm -e Eiconcard_Router Removing Eiconcard Services --------------------------- To remove the Eiconcard Services, do the following: # rpm -e Eiconcard_Services Manually removing /opt/dialogic/c4l (optional) ------------------------------------------- To completely remove all Eicon software and directories from your system after removing the packages with "rpm -e ...", manually delete the /opt/dialogic/c4l directory as follows: # rm -rf /opt/dialogic/c4l 10.
