Open Network Architecture (ONA)

ONA is a combination of network services with a common media independent protocol and open software interfaces to help ensure the efficient flow of information and control data up and down the organization seamlessly.

Control and Information protocol (CIP) is a major component within the ONA, providing four common function: Common Control Services, Common Communications Services, Common Routing capabilities and base knowledge.
