Dialogic® PowerMedia™ Extended Media Server (PowerMedia XMS) - more articles

PowerMedia installation fails even if all the dependant packages are installed

Symptoms:

1. The Dialogic® PowerMedia™ XMS  installation fails even if all the dependent packages, including the 32bit version of libstdc++, are installed on the system. The xms_install.log file may show an error as follows:

12:16:28 ERROR   HMP components Installation failed. Remove and re-install XMS.
12:16:28 INFO1   Operation completed with 1 errors and 1 warnings

2.  When installing the PowerMedia XMS ISO image on a new system, the CentOS operating system is installed without issue, but XMS does not get installed. When trying to install it manually, there may be an error about the system date being earlier than the HMP build date. Note that PowerMedia XMS incorporates Dialogic® PowerMedia™ Host Media Processing Software Release 4.1LIN

Reason for the issue:

The reason for these symptoms is that the date of the system is not the current date. The PowerMedia HMP 4.1 installation program checks the system date before continuing with the installation.

Fix:

Set the system/BIOS to the current date, or at least on or after the PowerMedia HMP 4.1 build date.
