For health management purposes, each board in a redundant pair is in one of several states, as described in the following table. Boards change state as a result of application commands issued through the Health Management service or other external events, such as hardware or software failures on the board.

Failed |
Board is not operational due to a hardware or software failure or has been halted by an application. The application can attempt to reload the board. |

Standalone |
Board is either not equipped or not licensed for redundant operation and is running as a standalone signaling board. |

Stopped |
Board has been extracted. |
