Service Switching Point (SSP)

Service Switching Points are stored program control switches that interface to the Signaling System 7 (SS7) signalling network. The telecommunications switch in an intelligent network which handles a call with reference to supplementary routing and database information contained at a service control point (SCP), SSP is the telephone exchange that initially responds when a caller dials a number.
