Optimize PVD/AMD configuration for performance
Symptom:
In some circumstances overload may occur on Dialogic® DSP S2 or Dialogic® DSP S2 Plus cards as well as on the Dialogic® CSP Matrix Series 3 Card causing either one or both cards to fault and reset.
This condition may occur when using the PVD/AMD (Positive Voice Detection / Answer Machine Detection) feature on the Dialogic® CSP using the Dialogic® DSP S2 or Dialogic® DSP S2 Plus cards.
Workaround:
1. Limit the number of CPE messages that are reported to the host from the switch. Review the events that are currently reported and disable any events that you do not need.
The PVD / AMD Reports TLV 0x061b can be set to limit the number of CPE events being reported. Below are the TLV setting and the matching CPE that is reported for each of the PVD / AMD settings.
0x0001 - Silence - CPE reported type 0x42 truly silent.
0x0002 - PVD - CPE reported types 0x43 and 0x44 Short Term voice both rising and falling edges.
0x0004 - Tones - CPE reported type 0x47 and 48 Tone detected rising and falling edges.
0x0008 - AMD - CPE reported types 0x45 and 0x46 Long Term voice both rising and falling edges.
2. Use the 0x0128 Resource Disconnect message to detach the PVD/AMD receiver from the time slot if you are done with the CPE reports that were reported. Otherwise the CPE reports will continue to be sent until the channel is released.
3. Enable the HDLC over Ethernet feature to allow for an offload of HDLC traffic from the chassis bus to the Ethernet connection.
To enable the HDLC over Ethernet set the Dialogic® DSP S2 and Dialogic® DSP S2 Plus cards DIP switch SW1 position to OFF.
