Default and Custom installation of the Diva software for Windows.

This page contains information on how to install the Dialogic Diva System Release Version 8.3 (and above) for Windows 2003/XP/Vista/Windows 7 and 2008, both 32 and 64 bits.

Use the procedures outlined here if both of the following apply:

  • You are installing a Diva Media Board.
  • You have physically installed the Diva card and Windows has automatically installed a driver for it, or you are updating from a previous version of Diva for Windows XP/2003/Vista/Windows 7/2008.

Install Options - Default and Custom Installations

The Installation Wizard offers a number of options which balance ease of use with custom configuration. For maximum ease of use, simply use the Default Installation. These parameters will then be set:

  • Switch Type - Euro ISDN
  • CAPI and RAS Services will both be installed
  • Incoming and Outgoing Calls accepted
  • Analogue and Digital calls accepted
  • No password set for the Installation Wizard

 If you require settings other than the defaults shown above, select the Custom Installation.

Pre-requisites:

Firstly, ensure that you have:

  • Logged in as Administrator
  • Downloaded and extract the latest Diva System Release for Windows XP/2003/Vista/Windows 7/2008 to a folder on your PC. 

Run Setup.exe

Run the file Setup.exe from the folder where you downloaded and extracted the latest Diva System Release to start the Diva Setup:

  • In the dialog box that appears, click ‘Next’ to start updating the drivers for all installed Diva Media Boards.
  • The installer will check if a previous version is installed and give a summary of what is installed and what will be installed:

  • Click 'Next' to continue the installation.

Note: The first screen of the wizard offers the choice of running a Customised Install or the Default Install:

Note: This screen only appears if you are installing the Diva software for the first time.

Default Installation

  • If you installed a board that is not supported with this software version, the ‘Diva Setup Complete’ window appears. It will display the name of the installed board that is not supported. Click close to cancel the installation.

  • If all installed boards are supported, click next to start the installation, the progress window will show:

  • Once the installation is complete you should see this confirmation screen:

  • Click 'Finish' to complete the setup and restart the server.

Customized Installation

The Customized Installation provides you with control over what components to install, including the option for a Secure Installation. Please note that with a Secure Installation no components can be added at a later date unless they were selected in the Secure Installation. To change the setup with a Secure Installation, you will need to use the Diva Configuration Wizard and the password you have set, if any. Click here for instructions on the default Quick Install.

  • In the Diva Setup, check the box to 'Customized Installation'

Note: You will need to check the option for Customized Installation to make the Secure Installation option available

  • Click 'Next'
  • Depending on the type of board you installed, you will be prompted to select the Switch type (ISDN) or the country (analog).

Note: If you have both types of boards installed, you will be able to select both switch types in turn.

  • In the ‘Default Switch Type’ box, select the switch type for your configuration. Click ‘Next’
  • Click 'Next'
  • If you selected 'Secure Installation', this screen will appear:

Note: In the ‘Security Settings’ box, all the possible services and interfaces are selected. Click on any of the check boxes to unselect any services or interfaces you do not wish to use for security reasons.

You can set a password to prevent unauthorized users from changing the settings.

  • Click ‘Next' to continue, you will be prompted to select which services you want enabled:

  • In the ‘Services and Interface Selection’ box, select the services and interfaces you need for your system. 

Note: If you selected ‘Secure Installation’, the services and interfaces you de-selected in the previous window cannot now be selected. To change this, click 'Back'.

  • Click ‘Next’ to continue

Note: If you selected the service ‘Modem via serial port and TAPI (Unimodem)’, the ‘Modem Installation’ box now appears.

  • Select the type of virtual modem you want to use. 
  • If you do not want to use one modem per B-channel, select ‘Specify the number of modems to install’, and enter the number of modems.
  • Click ‘Next’. You should now be prompted to select the policy for accepting or refusing calls for each of the services/interfaces you selected

  • In the ‘Incoming Call Policy’ box, select how to handle incoming calls.
  • Click ‘Next’. You will now see a summary of what the installer will install and configure:

  • Click ‘Back’, if you need to change any of the settings. 
  • Click ‘Next’ to copy the appropriate files to your system. The progress window will appear, and you will see files being copied over.

  • Once finished, the installer will confirm the success of the installation:

Setup Complete!!

  • When the copy process is complete, click ‘Finish’ to complete the installation and restart the server.
