Using the CAPI Check Diagnostic Tool

If you are trying to use the CAPI interface with a Diva Media Board and are having problems or getting error messages that relate to an issue with the CAPI driver, then there are number of checks that can be made to resolve the issue:

1. The Diva CAPI Service is not installed or has been uninstalled.

  • Use the Dialogic Diva Configuration Manager and check that the CAPI service is visible, and that you have a binding to the card.
  • If CAPI is not shown here, go to 'Insert' > 'CAPI', and then create a binding between CAPI and the Diva Board.

2. There was an error during driver installation.

  • Please uninstall and re-install the Dialogic Diva System Release for Windows.

3. There is another non-Dialogic® Diva ISDN card installed in the computer.

  • This scenario is not supported by Windows as it can only handle one CAPI-driver installed.
  • Multiple ISDN cards from different manufacturers will therefore not work in the Windows environment.

Note: having an additional Diva Client card (i.e. a passive card) in the same machine will also not work.
  • You can however install a maximum of eight Diva Analog, BRI, 4BRI, PRI, V-2PRI, four Diva V-4PRI, or two V-8PRI Media Boards in one computer.
  • You can mix different types of Diva Media Boards.

4. Another non-Dialogic® Diva ISDN card was installed in the computer previously and the driver is still present.

  • A CAPI driver will not load correctly if there are files or registry entries of another manufacturer's CAPI driver still present on the system.
  • Make sure you completely uninstall all other CAPI drivers and then re-install the Dialogic Diva System Release for Windows.
  • Use the Diva CAPICheck utility to search for other CAPI drivers present - see below.

How to use the Diva 'CAPICheck' Tool

  • You can use this utility to check for unwanted CAPI drivers on your system which may be the cause of problems with your Diva product.
  • Download capicheck.zip

Instructions for use:

1. Save the file to a folder on your hard disk

2. Unzip the file

3. Double click on the file CAPICheck.exe to run it.

4. A window will then pop up on your screen with details of all installed CAPI drivers.

5. These details will also be saved to a file called capicheck.txt in the same folder.

You can now:

  • Uninstall or delete any unwanted CAPI drivers which capicheck has discovered.

- or -

  • Email the capicheck.txt file back to Dialogic for advice
