Communications as a service platform boosted by rich media processing capabilities creates host of communications services for enterprises, consumers

Parsippany, N.J. –February 20, 2014Dialogic Inc. and Tropo Inc. today announced Tropo’s support for Dialogic’s award-winning PowerMedia™ XMS media server. The solution combines PowerMedia XMS’s scalable, rich media processing for real-time video with Tropo’s platform, including support for the emerging Web real-time communications (WebRTC) standard. As telecommunications service providers rethink the role of their networks in the new digital services economy, Tropo and Dialogic are creating a new era of video communications services that can dramatically reduce time to market for new carrier services.

With the rich media processing capabilities of Dialogic’s PowerMedia XMS, Tropo exposes APIs for WebRTC-enabled services that incorporate high-definition video chat and conferencing and browser-to-browser communication at the click of a button. With Tropo, customers can use web-friendly APIs and scripting languages such as JavaScript, Ruby and Python to incorporate powerful call management into mobile apps and services.

“The response we’ve received from the global telco community has been all positive, particularly as WebRTC has ignited the imagination and activity in the value-added communication services markets,” stated Jason Goecke, CEO and president of Tropo. “PowerMedia XMS will allow us to add video to our extensive lineup of APIs.”

PowerMedia XMS energizes application development and boosts performance by providing rich media processing capabilities (transcoding, voice and video conferencing, recording and messaging), software performance that transitions seamlessly to virtualization and cloud services, and telco-hardened scalability. As developers leverage telco communication assets using Tropo, PowerMedia XMS will be ready to deliver the scalable video processing capability to power services and solutions from thousands to millions of users, with the efficiency of a pure software solution.

“Our work with Tropo brings the underlying CaaS muscle of PowerMedia XMS to global carrier and enterprise opportunities,” stated Kevin Cook, Dialogic CEO. “The appeal of the Tropo platform to the developer and carrier communities, combined with Dialogic’s scalable, flexible multimedia processing and the excitement around WebRTC, will be an explosive combination for ecosystem growth and profitability.”

Tropo and Dialogic are both participating in the Mobile World Congress Conference in Barcelona Feb 24-27th.
