How to disable Sharing of Timeslots (SoT) on DMV A boards.

Reason for the issue:

Using 'Sharing of Timeslots' (SoT) can sometimes impose constraints on an application when performing listen/unlisten functions in a specific sequence.

Fix / Solution:

There is a 2 step process in order to disable SoT on a Dialogic® DMV A Media Board:

1)  Disabling SoT only works with certain Media Loads. First, determine if the Media Load you are using for the DMV A board will support disablement.

A list of supported boards and supported Media Loads can be found here

2) Open the .config file of the Media Load you are using and add the following setparm:

[kernel]
SetParm=0x5201,1 !disable SoT

3) Run fcdgen on this .config file and restart Dialogic Services so the new parametertakes effect.

NOTE: With SoT disabled, the application can only route resources on that particular board to a maximum of 256 external CT bus timeslots. Your application will need to keep track of the number of routes to external timeslots and make sure this number does not exceed 256.

Technical Discussion:

The SoT algorithm for Dialogic DMV and DM/V-A Media Boards with network interfaces maximizes the usage efficiency of the internal timeslots used for external transmit reference, allowing a full 120 channel density for such features as continuous speech processing and transaction record. The SoT algorithm is enabled by default, regardless of whether continuous speech processing or transaction record functionality is needed.

Using  SoT can sometimes place certain constraints on an application when performing listen/unlisten functions in a specific sequence. Today, Dialogic’s latest Service Update now supports an optional use (or disabling) of the Sharing of Timeslots (SoT) algorithm for certain media loads used by DMV A boards.

Later Dialogic® DM3 Media Boards (such as Dialogic® DMV-B Media Boards) were not designed to use the SoT algorithm.

Note: The SoT algorithm does not apply to Dialogic DM/V-B Boards, and it does not apply to resource-only DM/V-A and DMV/IP Boards.
