Using Asterisk with Diva Media boards

Please note: Whilst Dialogic can offer support on the Dialogic-specific parts of the installation, if your problem is more general, such as being unable to compile Asterisk or having questions regarding the general configuration we recommend you contact the support forum for Asterisk.

Installation:

1. Install Asterisk and verify installation is successful (i.e. Asterisk can be started and Asterisk console is accessible)

2. Download and install Diva System Release for Linux

3. During the installation of the Diva System Release software, the installation process automatically detects if Asterisk is installed and if the
header files to build the CHAN_CAPI driver are available. If successful the build process offers to install the CHAN_CAPI driver:

4. Select <Yes> and wait for Build process to complete.  After confirmation, the build process automatically detects the installed Asterisk version and creates and installs the required CHAN_CAPI driver.

5. Configure Diva board for your line and verify calls can be made

NOTE:

Asterisk may be installed or updated after the Diva System Release is installed. In this case, the build process for the Diva System Release can be started again and will create and install the CHAN_CAPI driver.

Configuration

6. In Diva WebGui select "CHAN_CAPI configuration" and configure the board to be used for CHAN_CAPI.

Click on the following image to view it full-size

7. Select 'Create capi.conf'
The CHAN_CAPI configuration generates a capi.conf Asterisk configuration file, modifies the modules.conf and makes the available options visible.

  Notes:
    - If a new capi.conf is generated, the old version is saved as capi.conf.saved_by_diva.
    - The DTMF parameters are set to 80ms Tone/Gap Duration and are detected by the DSP
if the capi.conf is configured via the WEB configuration interface.
    - MF and other tones can be detected. See the readme.media file for more information.
    - If you use Asterisk 1.6, do not activate RTP support.

8. Configure your Asterisk extensions.conf.
Consult the examples on the internet for reference. For Diva-specific commands, see the README, README.media, README.Diva.fax, and README.Diva.qsig files and the documentation for using Asterisk with Diva available from the web configuration.

Note: The DTMF parameters are set to 80ms Tone/Gap Duration and are detected by the DSP if the capi.conf is configured via the web configuration interface.  Please have a look at the following page on How to modify DTMF duration/gap should this be necessary.
