CAPI Checklist

If you are trying to use the CAPI interface with a Diva client card and are having problems or getting error messages that relate to an issue with the CAPI driver, then there are number of checks that can be made to resolve the issue:

The Diva CAPI driver is not installed.

  • Make sure that you are not using the built-in driver, as this does not support CAPI. Download and install the latest Diva Client driver.

There was an error during driver installation.

  • Please uninstall and re-install the Diva Client drivers.

There is another non-Eicon ISDN card installed in the computer.

  • This scenario is not supported by Windows as it can only handle one CAPI-driver installed.
  • Multiple ISDN cards from different manufacturers will therefore not work in the Windows environment. Note: having an additional Diva Client card in the same machine will also not work.
  • You can however install up to eight Diva Server cards in one computer (and you can mix different types of Diva Server card).

Another non-Eicon ISDN card was installed in the computer previously and the driver is still present.

  • A CAPI driver will not load correctly if there are files or registry entries of another manufacturer's CAPI driver still present on the system.
  • Make sure you completely uninstall all other CAPI drivers and then re-install the Diva Client drivers.
  • Use the Diva CAPICheck utility to search for other CAPI drivers present - see below.

How to use the Diva 'CAPICheck' Tool

  • You can use this utility to check for unwanted CAPI drivers on your system which may be the cause of problems with your Diva Client Card.
  • Download the file capicheck.zip

Instructions for use:

Step 1. Save the file to a folder on your hard disk.

Step 2. Unzip the file.

Step 3. Double click on the file CAPICheck.exe to run it.

Step 4. A window will then pop up on your screen with details of all installed CAPI drivers.

Step 5. These details will also be saved to a file called capicheck.txt in the same folder.

You can now:

  • Uninstall or delete any unwanted CAPI drivers which capicheck has discovered.

- or -

  • Email the capicheck.txt file back to Dialogic for advice
